Dear District 162 and Southland College Prep Family,

It is with profound sadness that we share the news of the passing of Mr. Ronald Bean, a devoted member of the Matteson School District 162 Board of Education for 31 years and a founding member of the Southland College Prep Board of Directors. Over the course of his distinguished tenure, Mr. Bean also served as the President of both Boards, guiding each with exceptional leadership and unwavering dedication.

Mr. Bean was a true champion for our students. He loved the youth of our community deeply and constantly gave back to them in every way he could. His life’s work was rooted in one unwavering mission: to ensure that our children received the high-quality education, opportunities, and resources they deserve. His passion, advocacy, and steadfast commitment to excellence shaped not only the trajectory of our schools, but also the lives of countless students and families.

Across more than three decades of service, Mr. Bean was a guiding force whose vision helped build the strong educational foundation that District 162 and Southland College Prep stand on today. His leadership, wisdom, and tireless dedication have left a legacy that will continue to influence and inspire generations to come.

Beyond his formal roles, Mr. Bean was a trusted mentor, a valued colleague, and a beacon of positivity and support. His presence uplifted every room he entered, and his belief in our students never wavered. Our schools, and our community, are better because of him.

We extend our deepest condolences to the Bean family and to all who knew and loved him. As we reflect on his extraordinary life and service, we ask that you keep his family in your thoughts during this difficult time. We will share additional information about services or memorial arrangements as it becomes available.

Mr. Bean’s legacy will forever remain a cornerstone of who we are. May we honor him by continuing the work to which he dedicated his life.
