Heartfelt Gratitude: Our Collective Impact for the Kankakee Community

Posted Date: 03/16/26 (10:20 AM)

Dear District 162 and Southland College Prep Families, Faculty, and Staff,

On behalf of our leadership team, I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to our incredible community for the overwhelming show of support following the devastating tornado that impacted Kankakee last week.

When we first launched this donation drive, our goal was to provide meaningful relief to our neighbors during their recovery. While we initially anticipated sending one truck of essential supplies, the sheer volume of your generosity far exceeded our expectations. Thanks to your selfless contributions, we were able to deliver two full trucks of aid to those in need.

This mission was a true collaborative effort. We were proud to partner with District 227 to coordinate the logistics, and I am especially moved by the dedication of our students. Several of our young leaders joined the effort on the ground, working diligently to unload the trucks and personally deliver items to families in the Kankakee community. Seeing our students put their values into action was a highlight of this initiative.

The speed and scale of this response serve as a powerful testament to the character of our community. In moments of crisis, your willingness to band together is what makes our district truly special. Because of you, families in Kankakee have the essential supplies necessary to begin the process of rebuilding.
Thank you for your kindness, your compassion, and your unwavering commitment to service.

Sincerely,

Dr. Blondean Y. Davis
